During our time with the Board, some of you suggested the awesome idea that you have time to process concepts so that you could respond to one of the major questions that we presented to the larger group.
How can you, as individuals and collective Board members, use the concept of intersectionality to analyze policy while also integrating the multiple identities embodied by you and your constituents?
Yes, we recognize that this question may seem daunting. However, we are here to support you by providing you with an identity assessment questionnaire. This simple questionnaire will help position you and your responses for optimal exploration.
You will begin the first step in developing your intersectional analysis skills by simply entering your identity into these twenty-one categories. The second step is to consider how your multiple identities and constituency identities intersect (which you will list in the questionnaire) when examining current and proposed policies.
Before entering your personal profile information, please practice using at least one of the included profiles. Feel free to practice using additional profiles if you desire.
Next steps:
1. Video: We have included a six-minute video that summarizes the key concepts and terms that we have discussed so that you can refresh your memory (for those of you who joined us in August) or introduce these concepts for those of you who were unable to attend our face-to-face meeting on August 15th. Access the video here.
2. Identity Profiles: Complete the personal profile and return it to cwalden@earlyeducationassociates.com. You can access the Identity Profiles here. You will have to download the PDF form to complete it.
3. Response to the overarching question: Respond to the overarching question using no more than two paragraphs. Once completed, return to cwalden@earlyeducationassociates.com. Access the Overarching Question here.
This assessment must be completed and returned on or before Friday, September 13, 2024. Thank you!
